Standing Up for Florissant Families

Florissant is one of the oldest communities in Missouri, with the brick streets of Old Town, the historic St. Ferdinand Shrine along Rue St. Francois, and neighborhoods of postwar homes stretching toward New Halls Ferry Road and I-270. Many families here have lived in north county for generations, and they want a lawyer who treats them with respect and charges fairly. ROC Law helps Florissant residents with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, divorce and child support, custody and contempt matters, criminal defense and DWI, and estate planning. Attorney Randall Oettle meets with you at our Tesson Ferry Road office and explains your options in plain language. Your first consultation is free and comes with no obligation..

Child Support, Custody, and Contempt Matters

Child-related court orders shape daily life for parents, and they must be enforced and updated fairly. ROC Law represents parents in establishing and modifying child support, creating and revising parenting plans, and resolving custody disputes. We also handle contempt actions when the other parent fails to pay support or follow a parenting schedule, and we defend parents facing contempt allegations by explaining their circumstances to the court. Missouri support calculations follow a specific formula, and we help you present accurate income and expense information so the result is fair. When support arrears or divorce debt create financial pressure, we can evaluate Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. The firm also provides criminal and DWI defense and estate planning. Every case is handled with your children's needs in mind.

Frequently Asked Legal Questions

Will my employer find out if I file for bankruptcy?

In most cases, your employer is not notified when you file. Exceptions include situations where wages are being garnished, since your attorney will notify the employer to stop the garnishment, or Chapter 13 plans paid through payroll deduction. Federal law prohibits private employers from firing you solely because you filed bankruptcy.

What can I do if my ex is not paying court-ordered child support?

You can file a motion for contempt asking the court to enforce the support order. Missouri also offers enforcement through the Family Support Division, including wage withholding, tax refund intercepts, and license suspensions. Unpaid support remains owed and generally cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. An attorney can help you choose the fastest enforcement option for your situation.

Can I name a guardian for my children in my will?

Yes. Missouri allows you to nominate a guardian for your minor children in your will, and courts give strong weight to that choice. Without a nomination, a judge decides who will raise your children if both parents die. You can also name an alternate guardian and set up a trust or conservator to manage money left for the children.
